Hello Everyone,
My husband and I recently purchased a 1975 Catalina 27.
Although it
was originally used with an inboard Atomic 4 gas engine,
the previous
owners had put an outboard engine on it. (Apparently, after
spending
some years on the hard in a marina and the engine
compartment became
flooded when the cockpit drain became occluded with leaves,
etc.)
We would like to get the old Atomic 4 out of the boat....
Does anyone
here have any experience with this, or have suggestions? Is
this
something we can do ourselves, or should we take it to a
marina?
Assuming the engine is taken out, will we need to add some
ballast in
the engine compartment to replace some of the missing
weight?
One more question: is anyone out there interested in this
motor for re-
building or parts - or know anyone who might want it?
We'll be glad to
give it away just to be rid of it!
(Our boat is docked near Rock Hall on the Eastern Shore.)
Thanks for any advice....
