I used cpvc instead of pvc because I could not find pvc in sizes smaller
than ½ in. My boat did not have the turnbuckle covers so being cheap or
frugal, I used ¾ in. cpvc to cover those. The size of the forward lowers is
3/8 in. cpvc is light tan or beige in color, the boats hull is light tan of
beige so it all ties together. Wouldn’t win any design awards but it works

I guess I need to do that pvc thing since I have the hang-up issues also. I
did it on a previous boat and it worked well but I struggled with the
aesthetics of it all. As sailors we are a part of a thing of beauty after
all… :-)

I, too, made "shroud rollers" by installing 5' lengths of 3/4 inch PVC pipe
on the forward lowers. They have made "knot hangups" a thing of the past.

Why 5'? I got two out of one stock 10' pipe. Why 3/4"? I discovered that
the little caps that fit on the plastic turnbuckle covers fit perfectly over
the ends of 3/4" pipe. I then gave them a couple of wraps of rigging tape
and, voila!
