Ted Here is another piece of the puzzle: Some of Sojourn's stanchions are canted inward and their mounting plates do not lay flat on the deck. There is unnatural deformation where the stanchion is wielded to the plate. The plates are raised an eighth to a quarter of an inch between the outboard (not inboard) through bolts as if, over her 25 years, there have been repeated "push offs' from the dock? My plan is to remove each "bent" stanchion , straighten the plate and reinstall it with proper bedding. Hi Ted, I believe there are three types of stanchions sold. 10 degrees in , straight up and 10 degrees out. I replaced two of my stanchion a few years back after a boat had slip her mooring and stove my stanchions in. I should mention that I went with the 10 degrees out on the stanchions at the cabin because with the dodger up it would give me a little more room to get around the dodger. The down size of this change was that I ended up changing the life lines as the old ones came up a little short (they were also damaged in the collision).
