Obviously, "module" is modifying the term "distribution". I think that using the term "project" here addresses the terminology issue nicely. As Phillip pointed out, this is the terminology that setuptools uses. So maybe PyPI should expand to "Python Project Index". Aside from PyPI, I'd really like to "bless" this terminology. If we all seem to like this term, I'd be happy to try to update the distutils documentation to reflect this terminology. (I hope we don't need a PEP to adopt this terminology.)
