What is the role of library metadata as the web of Search melds into the
web of Discovery? Bibliographic metadata is notoriously term poor with
respect to quantity; yet, the classification codes, subject terms, and
genre headings in library metadata provide rich connections across the
indexed content and into the knowledge structures from which they are
drawn. This presentation will focus efforts to exploit subject and genre
elements to improve discovery.
