Today's Topics: 1. ALCTS Program--2nd call for proposals for ALA 2016 Annual Conference (Elaine Franco) 2. FW: Call for Vice Chair--ALCTS CMS Collection Evaluation & Assessment Interest Group (Elaine Franco)
---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 The ALA 2015 Annual Conference is over and now it is time to start thinking about the 2016 Conference. Although many conference proposals originate with ALCTS sections or interest groups, they can also come from individuals or other groups. See below for details. And keep in mind that the ALCTS Affiliates Showcase is a conference slot dedicated to "showcasing" programs that have been presented by technical services groups at the local/state/regional level. Affiliates Showcase presentations are selected by the Affiliate Relations Committee and do not go through the ALCTS Program Committee's formal application and vetting process. The selection is usually made in January, so any programs from 2015 fall library conferences can be considered. Expect to hear more about the ALCTS Affiliates Showcase in the fall and consider suggesting your own or other programs for national exposure. If you are interested in planning a program, please submit the appropriate web form (see below), and plan to meet with the Program Committee via a virtual appointment later in the summer. Deadline for proposals is August 15, 2015. The committee and ALCTS staff will help you develop your ideas and plan logistics. It is not necessary to have all the details when you initially fill out the proposal form or visit the committee, however we ask that you supply a working title, tentative description, target audience and relevance to the profession. The Program Committee welcomes topics that will remain current and of interest in 2016 (see list of suggested topics below). We particularly encourage you to employ different program formats: lightning rounds, learning lounge style, debates, an "unconference" model, or other innovative program model. Programs will be either 60 or 90 minutes in length. Programs and pre-conferences often originate with ALCTS sections or interest groups, but they can also come from individuals or other groups. We have had several proposals for in-person pre-conferences, but would also be interested in exploring ideas for a virtual pre-conference.
