You are invited to attend a hands-on linked data information session and workshop running in conjunction with the PCC Operations (OpCo) Meeting in May. If you are attending the OpCo Meeting and are interested in attending this event, please review the information below and RSVP to the survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F6TRPFX) by February 29th, 2016 so we can gauge interest. You may choose to attend both or only one of the sessions. Additional information will be sent to registered attendees via email in mid-April. Please direct any questions about the event to [email protected]. Note: Space for this event is limited and offered on a first come first served basis. The sessions will start and end at the scheduled times. If your travel does not allow you to attend from the beginning you are welcomed to join in whenever you arrive on Wednesday. Attendees may attend the Friday session for as long as they wish. The session is open until 5:00 on Friday so that CONSER members may attend after the regular CONSER Operation Committee Meeting ends at 3:00. We will be sending out a separate survey on OpCo attendance next week with hotel and other information. ********** 2016 PCC OpCo Meeting Linked Data Information Session and Workshop Title: "Moving Away from MARC-athon: Visualizing Resource Descriptions in the Linked Data Environment." This event is comprised of two sessions: 1. Information and Discussion Session Wednesday, May 4, 2016 1:00pm-5:00pm 2. Hands-on Guided Practice Session Friday, May 6, 2016 1:00pm-5:00pm Purpose: The event will provide attendees with an understanding of how semantic web and linked data principles can leverage access to library resources and enhance user experiences; an opportunity to explore RIMMF, a training tool that can be used to create, edit, and visualize RDA metadata; and the BIBFRAME Profile Editor, a simple tool that enables input of any BIBFRAME vocabulary element. Objectives: At the end of the event attendees will understand: . The relevance of linked-data in processing library resources today and in the future . Why RDF is an important linked data format and how it relates to other schemas . How RIMMF works as a visualization tool and as a way to export library metadata to linked data formats, such as RDF . The importance of BIBFRAME and its goals .
