CaMMS Catalog Management Interest Group meeting at ALA Annual 2016 (Elaine
Franco)

The theme will be "It's not a question of IF, but WHEN: Migrating to a Next
Generation ILS" - The migration to a next generation ILS by many public and
academic libraries has been underway for several years now. It is an
expensive and time intensive process. This program will focus on the stages
(selection, implementation and post-production data editing and branding)
that are required from the perspective of different library landscapes (e.g.
single institution, consortium, public, academic, private, special).
Presentations that can highlight positive and negative lessons learned
during a specific stage and within a specific library environment are
welcome.

The ALCTS CaMMS Catalog Management Interest Group is seeking proposals for
presentations at its 2016 ALA Annual meeting in Orlando, FL. The program is
scheduled for Saturday, June 25 from 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Each presenter will be given approximately 15-20 minutes. Additional time
will be allowed for questions and discussion.

The charge of the Catalog Management IG is: To discuss the various issues
involved with cataloging, classification, authority control, and metadata
application after the initial cataloging has been performed, including its
impact on discovery. The group will provide a forum for exchanging
information and discussing techniques, new developments, and problems in
managing the data integrity of library catalogs and related discovery tools.

Please email proposal titles, abstracts, name(s) and affiliation(s) of
presenter(s) to co-chairs by Monday, April 25, 2016. If you have questions,
please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
