This is from Sandra at the Baptist Association...we all want to help others, but this is a reminder that we can never be too careful when helping others! Please read this and pray for this family. Attached Message Dear Pastors, I am sending this to you for two reasons. One is so you will pray for this family. The other is to ask you to be careful when helping others. A friend on the police force said that if you see someone on the side of the road in need of help, you should call 911. We don't want anything to happen to you. This is one of our GBC churches. Prayer Request: Sarepta Baptist Association: Pendergrass Baptist Church Youth Minister, Frank Harris, was killed yesterday. Pastor of Pendergrass, Kevin Burgess ask that we please lift up in prayer his wife, Tami, his three children and the church. Arrangements have not been made yet. I have copied the article below that is in the Atlanta Journal Constitution today. Church youth minister found dead in North Georgia Associated Press Monday, December 01, 2008 CLEVELAND, Ga. — A northeast Georgia church youth minister was found dead early Monday, hours after he called his family to say he was giving a ride to "some stranded people." The body of the Rev. Edward Frank Harris Jr., 44, of Clermont was found shortly before 4 a.m. in a yard in Cleveland, White County Coroner Ricky Barrett said. Barrett told the Gainesville Times that Harris had some injuries, but he would not provide details. Harris' mother-in-law, Harriet Carnes, said the family was told that Harris was shot, and his car was found at a different location. Carnes said Harris called about 7 p.m. Sunday upon leaving the Pendergrass Baptist Church, where he was youth minister. =0 A"He was helping some stranded people," Carnes said. "He was full of compassion." She said Harris said he was going to give them a ride to Cleveland, about 30 miles from Pendergrass and 10 from Clermont. Carnes did not know their identity, or how many there were. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist Cleveland police. Special agent Mike Ayers of the GBI said the body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy. "They have somebody in custody," Carnes said by telephone about 6:30 p.m. Monday. Neither Ayers nor Cleveland Police Chief John Foster returned calls to confirm that. Harris and his wife, Tami, have three children, 17, 15 and 11.
