I thought I would update everyone as to how Nicholas is doing. His heart is great and the surgeon seems pleased with the first phase of his surgery. The problem that we continue to face now is that of his breathing. He can't breathe well at all without the CPAP machine. They attempted to take him off it on Wednesday and after a few hours he was really struggling so back on the CPAP machine he went.
They are going to give him a week and then try to take him off it again. If at that time he is still not able to hold his own they will have to put him on a ventilator and scope him to see if there is another underlying issue. Worst case scenarios would be lung disease or a tracheotomy.. Please I am asking everyone to pray that God heals Nicholas and allows his breathing to become normal. He already has so many hills ahead of him to climb that I really pray he doesn't need to suffer with more procedures. I want to thank everyone who continues to pray for him and also for Scott and I. I have had some really down days lately and thank God Scott was here this week because he is my rock but sometimes I feel really overwhelmed. I would ask that you pray for our strength to increase because to load at times seems too much to bear. It is also going to be hard with Scott going back to work next week. If you could pass this along to all prayer chains and prayer warriors that would be great! Again thank you to all!
