Based on careful initial planning of the whole site this just won't occur.

I'd like to think we can plan the site completely now, but I'd suggest that we are unlikely to get it completely right. More likely that changes will be needed within a year.

I work in a search engine company, so I can offer some insight in screen resolution people use based on millions of visits. Here are the results: 1024x768 (58.9 %), 1280x1024 (20.8 %), 800x600 (9.8 %), 1152x864 (4.3 %),

We see similar figures from our cluster of hosted sites in Australia. However users do not open their browsers full screen. And missing the most important navigation or having to scroll right is just annoying.
