Just a quick note for those who might be interested in looking for the
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in Savannah on Monday. The bird was still
present when I left the area at 5:40 pm on Sunday evening (25 Oct 2009).
David Wheeler was still watching it, hoping that Jim Pawlicki would
arrive in time to catch a glimpse of it (which I think he did).
During the time that I was there this afternoon, the bird ranged a
considerable distance along the eastern end of Van Dyne Spoor Road.
When I arrived, it was probably 3/5 to 3/4 of a mile west of the road's
dead end, but at one point it flew east of the dead end and over the
small canal into Cayuga County. At all times that I saw it, the bird
was either perched on the power lines, or on vegetation on the south
side of Van Dyne Spoor Road.
Good luck,
Matt Medler
