The victory wreath (reek?) went to the skunk. There was no fighting; the
other two just disappeared into the tall grass. S. F.

This evening, at 2120, we saw three adult mammals face off over some fresh
compost at our open compost pile. They formed a triangle 4' from each
other-a raccoon, a striped skunk, and a gray fox. Question: who was the
victor and got the spoils (pun intended)? Answer tomorrow.

We've also had a GREAT HORNED OWL perched on large, round hay bales in the
field across the road, hunting rabbits. Only light enough to see one
strike, which just missed.
