I was there twice last wk. & was mighty grateful for 4 wheel drive along the
thruway because the mud was deep & very slippery. The mud is from the sloppy,
wet, black muck that has been dug out to form the new pools. It is being hauled
over by the river & lots of it gets dropped on the roadway or drops from the
big tires on the big earth movers. Soooo ... the rains of Sandy would have
made it even sloppier. .... I was amazed at how many potholes had formed along
the main pool from the rains of the previous wk.. I wish the refuge had a
vehicle counter to know how much the drive is used.

Several people have emailed and asked us why the wildlife drive was closed.
We do not know. Wade and Melissa

Why? Mud was hoping to head over there tomorrow. It was muddy last week
along the T-way. Thanks, Janet Akin
