Who discovered that most birds are basically monogamous? Who discovered that most birds defend a territory? When did people stop believing that birds hibernate in the mud at the bottom of ponds and instead migrate in winter? Birkhead's talk will explore how the understanding of birds has developed over the past four centuries. His new book, Bird Sense, will be available for purchase and signing.
