Saw an adult bald eagle fly SW towards the lake just west of our house
yesterday 9 a.m.. At 2  p.m. when I  was at the post office, 1/2 mi. from
our house, I again saw an adult bald eagle flying SW towards the lake. I
hope it is able to take a goose or duck for food since fish are probably
down too deep in the lake now. Goose hunting season ends 11 Jan.. Duck
season ended today (9 Jan.). Snow goose season begins 16 Jan. & runs
through 15 April.

Canadas were flying westward over our house (we're 1/2 mi. from the lake)
in great nos. about 4:30 p.m.. Mill pond already had several hundred on it when
the evening flocks came over in great nos.. Ducks seemed to have decided Factory
pond was the wiser place to be as I saw only a few on Mill but many gadwall &
mallards on Factory along with a couple buffles as well as some Canadas.

Lots of ice from Frontenac Park out to Frontenac Island.

Beware if you drive on Rte. 90 here in Union Springs. Traffic is
a nightmare by the gambling hall because the Cayugas have
brought in a trailer & are selling cigarettes there instead of at the
gas station. Cars are lined up IN THE ROAD WAY going north &
along the side going south, but not completely off the road. With
all the big rigs & many NYC garbage trucks using Rte. 90, I can
see some road rage occurring, esp. if someone gets sideswiped.
I was not pleased at having to wait in line as one car at a time was
able to turn into the driveway & of course, the gamblers trying
to enter or leave weren't helping. Fire trucks & ambulances????

Gas in Auburn city, not on the western outskirts, is $2.41.9.
