Just the other day I saw about a dozen Cedar Waxwings fly catching over the stream, as viewed from East Hill Rec Way, on the bridge which is near the intersection of 366/Dryden Rd. I believe this is something they do frequently, as it is a good spot to find Waxwings. --

My husband and I were at the bridge over Upper Taughanack Falls at Taughanack State Park today and observed something we've never seen in our thirty years of birding...a flock of cedar waxwings fly catching from the trees alongside the creek out over the top of the falls. 15 - 20 birds repeatedly flying out over the falls & in to the trees presumably catching bugs. All my information tells me that cedar waxwings are not so enthusiastic about insects. I would like to know if anyone else has observed this and what information you have about cedar waxwings fly catching. Thank you!
