I've watched them flying thru a big hatch of midges along Flint Creek near Phelps, NY. They'd perch over the stream, fly thru the swarm, and then return to the perch. Then do it all over again! Also watched a spotted sandpiper gobbling them up at the Refuge. It was on foot. Reminded me of a velocciraptor! Midges didn't stand a chance!! Sar
