My feeder hangs from the soffit outside my kitchen window. No ant or squirrel problems. I was surprised a couple yrs. ago to have a downy sit on the perch & sip from the openings. I wish I had noted if it was a hot, drought time. Certainly they need liquids when it's so hot & they've had no rain water to sip ... or for "showers". Hummers & even tree swallows seem to appreciate the fine mist blowing on them if I'm watering flowers. Fritzie, Union Springs
