Mundinger Lecture: Mapping Migratory Routes with Feathers
November 13 at 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Half of the songbird species of the Western Hemisphere are in decline,
including migratory birds that travel vast distances between breeding and
wintering areas. The Bird Genoscape Project, a collaborative effort by
scientists from across the Western Hemisphere, seeks to map the migratory
routes of songbirds using genetic tools to help reverse population declines.
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Kristin Ruegg from Colorado State
University. Learn how feathers and DNA are used to build the next frontier of
bird conservation at the 2024 Paul C. Mundinger Distinguished Lectureship
presented by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
The lecture is free and open to the public. This is an in-person and virtual
event. The Mundinger lecture is being held in room B25, Warren Hall, on the
Cornell University campus. Parking is free after 5
p.m.<https://www.birds.cornell.edu/home/event/mundinger-lecture-understanding-neotropical-migratory-bird-population-declines/>
