I tried and i extracted downloaded GNS to tmp foldere then i followed the steps 
you advised before but it is not installed yet, following are the messages.

so, for example before download make some dir. for examle:1) cd ~2) mkdir tmp3) 
cd tmp4) pwdand you will see directory where you are standing now.5) put in 
this dir some files.

Hello, i have Installed Ubuntu 8.x
64bit and i found GNS3 installtion on Ubuntu 7.x
“http://www.blindhog.net/gns3-installation-tutorial-for-linux/”
but the thing is that it doesn't show the location of Python-qt4 I'm
just stucked there, I have downloaded Python-qt4 but don't know where
to paste the file, i cannot paste file in filesystem if i take the
properties > permission it says “the permission of “/”
determind. Any help please will be highly appreciated.
