I'll just add something here...

In real life practice, I agree 100% with using E1 for the reasons already
mentioned.

However, when I am doing "lab & CCIE" type stuff - and I
am redistributing OSPF I like to use E2.  The reason I do this is because I
can use a metric that suits me.

For example, routes from R1 I will seed with a metric of "1111" Routes from
R2 as "2222, R3 as "3333" etc

Therefore when I am troubleshooting I can quickly see where a route has come
from just by looking at the metric, rather than trying to remember the IP
address.
