Keep the faith David. Don't let it get to you. Reschedule (I'm assuming
for free) and go punch that exam in the nuts.

Well, after about a week of waiting and getting my case escalated
several times, I finally got some answers. It seems the configs were
lost for all of the config sections for everyone who took the exam in
RTP that day, but I was assured that the problem was isolated and they
are certain it won't happen again.
I asked about the results for the TS section and was told I got a
680-something. So, I guess it's a moot point for me after all.
It's been a very trying week ... time to focus on round 2.

Either way - best of luck and keep us updated :-)

You hit the nail on the head. Any way you slice it, I'm wasting a
trip
to RTP (and all associated expenses and inconveniences). Either I am
currently at a CCIE-level and now I have to demonstrate this a
second
time, or I'm not and I have to make a second trip down there in a
couple
of weeks to finally find out that I need to study harder and retry
again
in a few months.
The more I think about it, I just can't see how this can work out in
my
favor. Does anyone think that it's likely someone would fail one
week
and turn around and pass a couple of weeks later? I suppose I may be
less nervous next time ... my fingers weren't cooperating very much
the
other day and my typing speed/accuracy suffered.
I do believe that cream rises to the top and I will overcome this
(more
determined than ever now), but I expect more from Cisco and hope
they
are willing to be more accommodating than their initial
correspondence
indicated.

I wouldn't fall into the silver-lining perspective either, unless I
got
my
tail kicked. Sure, he got to preview it, but it wasn't graded so
there's
no
associated feedback. Maybe he *did* get his tail kicked and needs to
serious
brush up on a few areas that he is unaware of.
Is there really such a thing as a free retake? Speaking as someone
that
lives in the mid-west, I'm into it for at least $600 per attempt for
food,
travel, and lodging, and then the cost of two days of vacation to
travel
and
take the exam. This is not counting the exam fee.
Personally, I'd hit Cisco up for some kind of travel voucher, as
well. I
don't know if there is such a thing or not, but it's worth asking
(fighting)
for.

I appreciate everyone trying to keep me in a positive mind set ...
believe me, I'm not giving up. But, what I really want to know is if
a
free retake is the best I can expect to get from Cisco, because it's
not
nearly enough. If I attempt to go back soon, the airline tickets
will
cost A LOT more.
Is there precedent for this sort of thing?
PS: I just that someone else who took the exam that day had the same
problem, so I guess it happened to all of us.

Hello there, I sat for my lab yesterday in RTP and walked out
thinking I
actually passed. I knew it would be close on the TS, but I was
reasonably confident that I had it ... confident enough that I knew
I'd
go for a re-grade if the results came back negative.
Then the hours ticked by and I heard nothing, finally at 3:30pm this
afternoon, a full 24 hours after I left the lab, I got an email. Not
stating that my results were in, but rather that "due to a system
malfunction, we were unable to save your configurations." And they
will
do their best to accommodate me on a re-take date. They didn't even
state that the re-take would be free, though I imagine that's
implied.
But, even still, the cost of the exam is but a drop in the bucket
compared to all the inconvenience this will cause.
And why does it take 24 hours to tell me that they screwed up? I sat
on
pins and needles waiting for the results. I really feel like I've
been
treated like dirt here.
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I'm outraged!
