Cisco rollover cable is flat, so that it is easy to distinguish from other
data cables.   Suppose you connect several data cables along with the
console cable to some router equipment (in the rear side of the rack) and
you want to come to front side of the rack to connect the other end of the
cables to some switch...

So that you know exactly what is the console cable even though the other
data cables are also in the same colour.  (Just a thought)
