Whoops this was meant to go to OSL not groupstudy.

I believe the issue to be with conflicting MAC's. There are two ACS and two XP machines per physical server. The MAC on the two ACS/XP machines are the same on the student NIC's currently. VMware used to let us get away with this. But it seems to not be so forgiving now. Support is re-saving the snapshots after changing the MAC's on the servers and will finish it later this week. Hopefully this issue is resolved after this change. I do believe it will be. Regards, Tyson Scott - CCIE #13513 R&S, Security, and SP Managing Partner / Sr. Instructor - IPexpert, Inc. Obviously I am going to have to look further into this issue. It seems there is a problem either with the new version of VMware that we upgraded to or something with the build of the server. I won't know more until I do more testing this week. I will let you know. Regards, Tyson Scott - CCIE #13513 R&S, Security, and SP Managing Partner / Sr. Instructor - IPexpert, Inc. They probably uses vswitches and their CAM-table isnt accurate after moving virtual machines to other vlans. Or something like that. Tyson, just out of curiosity, can you explain? /Jimmy 2010/7/25 Johan Bornman <[email protected]> Jimmy, Had the same thing now, opened wireshark with capturing on the student nic and the connection was working, close it and the connection to the rack is down again. Thanks you for the help on this. Do you know why wireshark affects it? Johan From: Jimmy Larsson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 11 July 2010 08:22 PM To: Johan Bornman Cc: OSL Security; [email protected] Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Security] V1 Lab2 If you are working on proctorlabs gear is sounds like you have run into the same problem as I had plenty of times the last week. In that case you are experiencing problem with vmware where acs runs. Verify this in a top-down order: 1) Make sure that your routes are properly configured (route print, route add...). Still doesnt work? 2) Reboot the ACS-machine. Still doesn´t work? 3) Start wireshark and capture traffic on student nic. That has made magic for me a couple of times. STILL doesn´t work (been there!)? 4) Page Proctor labs after hours support and ask them to reboot the ESX host. Refer to Tyson. If they cant because of that would interfere with other studens/pods you are scr*w*d for that session. I think that Vol1 Lab 2 uses original ip-settings on ACS (10.1.1.100) and this problem only shows upp when re-addressing the student nic of ACS, but it might be that ACS hasnt been reverted correctly or something.. /Jimmy 2010/7/11 Johan Bornman <[email protected]> Hi, I cannot ping the ACS server from R2. The ACS and R2 are directly connected. A sh arp on R2 shows the ACS server, there is no arp entry for R2 on the ACS. The routes are good on the ACS. The switch configurations are fine, although none is required in the lab. I also removed the configs on all the devices but I am having the same problem. Am I missing anything or is it possible that there is a problem on the rack?
