Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Security] DMVPN: ip nhrp redirect and shortcut

As Bruno stated, it is used for DMVPN Phase 3.

Technically, "ip nhrp redirect" should be configured on the hub which
informs to spokes to send packet directly. It's function is very similar to
the "ip redirects"..

And "ip nhrp shortcut" should be configured on the spoke which fixes the CEF
table accordingly.

But I have seen Cisco docs configuring both the commands on the hub and
spoke.

I use them both.

With regards
Kings

Hello all,

When would one need to use the "ip nhrp redirect" and/or "ip nhrp shortcut"
commands when configuring DMVPN. Must they be used together ? And when used,
can you bypass the use of "no ip next-hop-self" I'm confused with whether or
not they are related in a way.

Any help as always is appreciated

Mark
