to each their own... but without question renting is the cheaper way to go, when you are speaking of real gear. GNS3 can do a lot for sure but you will always end up needing to do some features on the real stuff.
I personally always find that when I build a rack of equipment for the CCIE I want to go for I end up wasting so much time trying to duplicate the topology it takes away from my study time. But that is my own personal experience. Regards, Tyson Scott - CCIE #13513 R&S, Security, and SP Managing Partner / Sr. Instructor - IPexpert, Inc. At the Lab I was very very fast because I had a lot of practice. It depends if you have the money to do it or not, but I think its worth buying and practising with the real stuff. As an initial step, I have looked at Blue Print for Security and HW/SW requirement. Joined this group and looking for answers to some Newbie's Question: 1) Should I build the Lab or Should i go for proctorlabs (When i did CCIE Voice, I rented proctorlabs but still i needed to buy phones, a switch, and a router). 2) If you guys recommend to build a Lab then do i need all of the following equipments or I can get away with some: * Cisco 3800 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR) * Cisco 1800 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR) * Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series Switches * Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances * Cisco IPS Series 4200 Intrusion Prevention System sensors * Cisco Secure Access Control Server for Windows Looking forward to your helpful comments. thx 'eicc _______________________ Robert Gridley Email: [email protected] _______________________________________________ For more information regarding industry leading CCIE Lab training, please visit www.ipexpert.com Are you a CCNP or CCIE and looking for a job?
