The packets are sent every 2 secs (frequency). Now, if for 2 sec (timeout)
there is no reply, the device is considered as failed.

Hi all,

I have a question concerning ip sla on asa but I not sure if this answer is
correct.

Question:

Configure asa1 to monitor the internet service provider (isp) gateway to
this server (1.1.1.1) and, should the cisco asa be unable to reach it, to
redirect only traffic to this server out the backup interface within two
seconds.

Answer

sla monitor 10

type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho 1.1.1.1 interface outside

timeout 2000 (ms)

frequency 2 (s)

exit

sla monitor schedule 10 life forever start-time now

track 88 rtr 10 reachability

In my opinion: timeout - the time to expire every probe, frequency - how
often to send a probe, so in this question host will become unreachable
after 4s not 2s. Could anyone confirm if I am right?

Regards

Piotr
