I tested the key and nothing has happened.. 

This is probably an issue related to GNS3, maybe it does not worth spending 
time on it..

Are the NTP client and server times roughly similiar before you configured NTP? 
NTP can take a while to synchronised if the original times of the two devices 
are far apart. Doing a manual clock set to get their times closer can speed up 
of the synchronisation process considerably.

My conifguration which is currently working on a GNS based 3725 also adds the 
"key" arguement to the server command on the client like this

ntp server *server_ip* key *key_id*

See if adding the key helps you.
