I'm inclined to think that this question has been already discussed and answered but the OSL archive is so big that may be someone will explain it again. When we enable rate limiting under the policy-map with the command "Police" there are three options:
R6(config-pmap-c)#police ? <8000-2000000000> Bits per second cir Committed information rate rate Specify police rate For now I understand that I would use "police rate percent" if I need to allocate a certain percentage for a certain type of traffic. What's the difference if I say "police rate 128000" and "police 128000"? When am I supposed to use "police cir" ? I have a question in the task: "Burst capacity should be set to the minimum value". Is it kind of a hint that if they ask about Burst then I have to operate with CIR and Bc? And What's the minimum value of Bc with regard to CIR ? Eugene
