I strongly object the idea of memorizing stuff that is dynamic in nature such
as a bogon list.
We have more important stuff to remember, so even those 5 networks would be a
complete rubbish to me if I see them in the list of valid public IP addresses.
And to put an icing on this cake RFC3330 is already obsolete:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5735
I just remember whatever I see in my day-to-day life, i.e. RFC1819,
self-assigned IP, test network and enough with it ;)

Apparently those three /8 blocks have been recently reclaimed and allocated,
check here for historical data

Matt, unfortunately, we have to memorize all those networks as a preparation
for the exam. If you have IPExpert's labs, they explain in a very nice way how
to remember all those addresses. RFC 1918 addresses are quite obvious, but
notice that many of those RFC3330 addresses are the beginning or ending of
classess A,B,C. Plus you have to exclude classes D and E.
Additionally, if you did some RTBH labs, they're using TESTNET:
192.0.2.0/24<http://192.0.2.0/24>. And sometimes you can see the
169.254.0.0/16<http://169.254.0.0/16> address on Windows PC when it can't get
IP address using DHCP. So two network less to remeber :-)

So you end up having only five networks to memorize :-)
14.0.0.0/8<http://14.0.0.0/8>
24.0.0.0/8<http://24.0.0.0/8>
39.0.0.0/8<http://39.0.0.0/8>
192.88.99.0/24<http://192.88.99.0/24>
198.18.0.0/15<http://198.18.0.0/15>

Hi Everyone,

A few questions about the place talk about RFC3330 and blocking
corresponding addresses.

Are we really supposed to remember all of these addresses? RFC1918 I
understand, along with a few others, but I really cant see how one
could expect to remember 30-odd prefixes eidetic. I mean I'm pretty
good, but it's not like my brain has direct feed from
cymru.com<http://cymru.com>.

Cheers,
Matt
