Having read all these feedbacks I asked myself a question - what is it that
Cisco is testing us for?
Our luck, our tolerance for their own glitches and acceptance of the fact that
they want us to fail this test ;)

I have to second what you say about the documentation. Better be prepared to
use it as less as possible. Also good to know some workarounds like:
- hot keys for copy-paste if your mouse right-clock does not show copy-paste in
IE
- use of notepad on TestPC if your candidate PC does not have one (was my case
once)

Cheers,
A.

I think it just depends on what URL it's going to. I know that you have some
config examples available, but if you try to browse to any other site it will
be blocked. I had no issue with trying to pull up a site, but it would block
them unless it was under certain categories that you said below.

This last attempt I didn't have any problem accessing the documentation site.
However on my attempt about a year ago, I was not able to look up items I was
supposed to get to. I told the proctor that the documentation website was not
working and he said, "This happens sometimes, sorry." I wouldn't rely too
much on the documentation, or the availability of it. You should only be
looking at the site for reference anyway, and not complete config examples.

With all that said, I must be attracted to things breaking during my lab. My
attempt about a year ago, the fire alarm started going off in San Jose about
11:00am. Although we got an extra 30 minutes because of it, it's a
concentration breaker :). My last attempt a couple of weeks ago, my host
computer was not working. I couldn't use IDM to configure the IPS to get
physical connectivity up. Then once they fixed it, I had issues with my IPS
cabling. Three of the Gig ports where not hooked up physically to the switch.

Good luck with your studies everyone.

Hi All

I would agree that the path of documents under the Products section in the link
above is available however I had a strange issue when I did my exam in San Jose
a few weeks ago.

I could access the Reference and Configuration Guides fine but whenever I tried
to access the Configuration Examples and Technotes or the Feature Guides which
are in the same location the CPU on my PC would spike and I couldn't do
anything. The pages would only partially load and I would get the error message
at the bottom of the IE window saying "Loaded with errors". We had to reboot my
PC and after it was rebooted I had the same issue whenever I tried to access
those documents under these sections so I ended up giving up and just focusing
on the Reference Guides and Configuration Guides.

I can't explain completely why this occurred but I can only think of two things:
- Web/URL filtering is performed via software on the PC and it was this which
was causing it to spike when I went to these pages and caused them to only
partially load
- Just plain bad luck

I know for a fact that there were other pages that were obviously blocked as
when I went to them a splash screen would come up saying so but with these
Feature Guides/Technotes this didn't happen, I just got the CPU spike and page
failed to load properly causing it to be unusable.

I hope this was a one off and I don't want to scare anyone into think that
these pages are not available but I am just wary about it myself now and am not
relying on having access to these pages in the exam.

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Pretty strange, but possible.

I took labs in RTP a few times and no issues yet. Thank God.

Best Regards.

Where did you take your lab?

That is correct. I just took the lab you have access to that link.

Also make sure you verify all of your layer 1 connectivity and alert the
proctor if you think something is down. I had a couple of interfaces on my IPS
that wouldn't come up due to a cable issue on the rack. I wasted time trying
to troubleshoot that thinking it was something I could have done.

As I understand it - it is everything from this Products node:

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Security] Documentation Access in Lab

Hi all,

Does anyone know what documentation will be allowed during the Sec lab? I'm
guessing only Config Guides and Cmd Reference docs? No Whitepapers, Tech
Guides, etc?

I know "back in the day", it was the good old "Doc CD". Since then, the
config guides, cmd references, and such seem to be in a much different place to
navigate to.

Thanks,
Jason
