I'm scheduled to take the CCIE Security v4 lab on April 9th. I agree with Matt that there isn't much time for anything else when prepping for your CCIE. I do work full time, with family, but I'm still grinding out 10+ hours per day of study time until April. The sheer number of technologies and topics is amazing, and the depth of knowledge required for each topic is (at times) discouraging. Unfortunately, right now, there isn't much out there specific to the v4 topics. I know IPExpert and INE have approximately the same release timeframes. I'm partial to INE because there is a language barrier with some IPExpert instructors that is difficult to overcome. Additionally, I purchased the IPExpert workbooks when they were due out in December 2012.. then suddenly they got pushed back several months with no explanation and absolutely no sympathy from IPExpert staff. They say they'll contact me when they have an update, but I never hear back from them and when I leave messages no one returns my calls. Who knows when they'll actually be finished.. but if trust is an important factor you may wish to go with INE. My recommendation is to work on the v3 material just keeping in mind that v4 has both new and old ASA code. Also, two other big differences are the inclusion of ISE (Identity Services Engine) in the v4 lab as well as the updated ACS version that is significantly different than the v3 version. INE.com is doing an online one-day bootcamp for ISE on February 18th.. it is free for All-Access-Pass members so definitely view that if you're able. They also have a one-day WSA bootcamp on the 20th. Seek study material from as many different sources as possible. I've used v3 workbooks from both IPExpert and INE and both are good but each will touch on topics that the other does not. Same goes for books, though there aren't many geared toward CCIE Security. When doing the workbooks, try to only seek help from the cisco docs on their website, as this is the only resource available during the exam. Make sure you build good habits during the study time regarding speed and efficiency as well. Having your own lab equipment is advantageous for technology focus topics but I've found that it's less stressful to schedule vRacks for long labs and/or mock labs. I've used ProctorLabs for rack rental and they've been good. And finally, the most important thing I've learned throughout this process is to be humble or be humbled. You may think you know something well, but don't skip that chapter (or video, or lab, etc.).. Complete it and test yourself. I've found that more times than not I learn something new and useful when going over something I thought I already knew. Sorry for the long email.. I have to get back to studying now. Dedicate yourself to this, and you'll be fine.
