Hi Jason, That's really good info. I can't remember what 7921 s/w was in the lab but then I used 1.3.1 during practice if I remember correctly.
By the way, over configuration is not a problem as long as the solution works. If anyone finds open eap config does not connect the phone properly then just add network-eap.(maybe quickly check firmware ver on the phone to confirm) Cheers, Brendon From: Jason Boyers <[email protected]> Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2011 06:59:35 -0500 To: Brendon Hwang <[email protected]> Cc: "Kara Muessig (kmuessig)" <[email protected]>, <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [CCIE Wireless] Autonomous AP Eap-fast with 7921 phone It is actually dependent on the version of firmware on the 7921G. From the release notes (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7925g/firmware/1_3_2/e nglish/release/notes/792x_132.html#wp223099),1.3(1) and earlier requires network-eap, while 1.3(2) and later requires open eap. This has to do with the authentication algorithm used for the EAP connection on a Cisco autonomous AP. Jason Boyers - CCIE #26024 (Wireless) Technical Instructor - IPexpert, Inc.
