So you have actually logged in with user/pass? If not, press Enter to get the login prompt (console only). Once you are logged in, get into enable mode. At that point you can enter the commands.
You can just ignore the normal log messages. They shouldn't prevent you from entering any commands. Though they can make it hard to read what's going on if there are a lot of them. If there is a debug running, just type in "undeb all" and that should get the debug messages to stop (might take a minute).
