Yes, free text entry would be great. In fact at this point I would like to place the name of the step that failed; For example, many of our projects have configuration like this: - compile project - run unit tests - build install
and very often for every step different person is responsible. So in case unit tests fail, I would like to have message like "Unit tests failed". Or since there are no names for the tasks, its identifier, like run_tests.bat for exec task. I believe You know what I have in mind. For me, it may work the very same way as CCNetListener file, or maybe this message could be stored in project.state file. And of course only the last message would be completely enough, for the whole discussion buildlogs etc. are available. This should just speed up finding the reasone why the build fails.
