Hi This could go, as for the tasks not having names, that is not entirely true ;-) check out the documentation, every task/publisher has a 'description' element (from 1.4.3 onwards) http://confluence.public.thoughtworks.org/display/CCNET/Executable+Task
so we could use that. For the moment it is only used in signaling the build progress, be we could add it to the messages if the build breaks. The only drawback is : the messages are in string format for the moment and now contain something like : Breakers : John, Smith or Will Is fixing the build and it is already used in other programs, like BVC2 suppose I had something like Breakers : John, Smith -- Last executed Task : HeavyDutyUnitTests Maybe we should convert the messages to xml, and let each program decide which parts to visualize. Otherwise it is string parsing :-( just a thought But your request is doable, and indeed a nice touch, You see which task failed, and this is already an issue in JIRA http://jira.public.thoughtworks.org/browse/CCNET-514 so it definitely needs solving! looking into it ;-) with kind regards Ruben Willems On Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 2:58 PM, snake001 <[email protected]> wrote: > > Yes, free text entry would be great. > In fact at this point I would like to place the name of the step that > failed; > For example, many of our projects have configuration like this: > - compile project > - run unit tests > - build install > > and very often for every step different person is responsible. > So in case unit tests fail, I would like to have message like "Unit > tests failed". > > Or since there are no names for the tasks, its identifier, like > run_tests.bat for > exec task.
