I won't even try to comment on computer issues, but...

The various photography magazines have recently published articles about
the durabilities of disks used for long-term storage of images. The disks
differ in stabilities of their dyes and their metal layers. The article
that I could find with minimal effort is:

Bill Gates wouldn't let me cut and paste. I hope I transcribed that
correctly.

If the data format on a 300-year disk is readable next week is a separate
issue.
