Postdoctoral position Auckland, New Zealand Structural biology of insect olfactory proteins A three-year postdoctoral position is available at HortResearch (Auckland, New Zealand), in the area of protein structure determination by X-ray crystallography. The project focuses on the structural and functional biology of proteins involved in olfaction in insects and will be carried out in collaboration with Professor Ted Baker at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Auckland. Odorant binding proteins and other proteins involved in insect communication will be over-expressed for crystallisation and their structures solved by X-ray analysis. Ligand binding will also be investigated through biochemical binding assays. The ultimate goal of the project is to identify novel protein structures that can be used to develop new insect control strategies by structure-aided design.
