POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW Structural Basis of Holliday Junction Resolution A BBSRC-funded postdoctoral post is available immediately, for 3 years, to elucidate the structures of intermediate states in the resolution of four-way DNA Holliday junctions by the homologous junction resolvase T7 Endonuclease 1 (Endo 1). The Holliday junction is a fundamental intermediate in recombination, and its cleavage is a critical step, since two of the four DNA strands must be cleaved correctly at appropriate points to free two daughter duplexes. The post is mainly concerned with the crystallization and X-ray crystal structure determination of complexes of Endo 1 with Holliday junctions at various stages of the cleavage reaction. A PhD in a relevant subject area and a strong research background in protein crystallography and protein chemistry are required. Application deadline 20 October 2006.
