Aren't we all using 'homemade' programs ? Isn't CCP4 code 'homemade' code?
I tend to believe that the root of the problem is not just how much a
piece of code has been tested, but how well-trained we are in judging our
programs' output. I would love to add here a long monologue about
automation-induced problems (in the spirit of "click HERE to get a
deposition-ready PDB file"), but I'd better leave it for another day.
