Postdoctoral Positions -- Gaudet Lab -- Harvard University
Postdoctoral positions are available in the Gaudet laboratory
within the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard
University. We use a combination of X-ray crystallography, biochemistry and
functional assays to study the stereochemistry of signaling and transport
through biological membranes. Current available projects focus on (i) ion
channels of the TRP family that are gated by temperature and (ii) the ABC
transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP). See (Mol Cell
24:51-62 (2006)) and (Neuron 54:905-18 (2007)) for samples of our recent
work on these projects.
The laboratory is fully equipped for all aspects of molecular
biology, biochemistry, cell biology and electrophysiology, and has automated
crystallization equipment and X-ray crystallography facilities. The
laboratory also has access to the many biophysical, imaging and computing
resources of the Molecular and Cellular Biology Department, the Chemistry
and Chemical Biology Department, and the FAS Center for Systems Biology. We
are part of a large and vibrant structural biology community at Harvard and
in greater Boston. The laboratory is also part of a consortium that
guarantees access to synchrotron facilities at APS (NE-CAT; Argonne, IL).
Candidates must have a Ph.D. at the start of the postdoctoral
appointment. Highly motivated individuals with research experience in the
following area(s) are of particular interest: (1) physiology and
biochemistry of membrane proteins, with an interest in structural biology
approaches and/or (2) X-ray crystallography or other biophysical techniques
along with skills in protein purification/ biochemistry/ molecular biology.
Candidates should send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae
with list of publications, and names of three referees to:

Applications will be reviewed as they are received and until the
positions are filled. Harvard University is an equal opportunity employer
committed to diversity.
