Title: Associate Scientist I/II Location: Gaithersburg, MD Req: 01417 Job Description: The successful candidate will have strong molecular and cell biology experience, with significant exposure to traditional biochemistry techniques. The successful candidate will be committed to being member of a collaborative, cross-functional team supporting MedImmune's next-generation biologics through the application of state-of-the-art techniques/technologies related to molecular and cell biology. Strong protein purification and analytical skills, and a thorough understanding and working knowledge of cloning and protein purification methods, are essential. In addition to technical proficiency and flexibility, the ideal candidate must display good communication skills, and be able to function effectively as part of a research team.
Requirements/Experience: Applicants should have a Bachelor/Master Degree in the biological sciences along with 5+ years (MS) or 7+ years (BS) of working experience in molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, in either an academic or biotechnology industry environment; experience with recombinant protein expression in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable. Exceptional laboratory skills, with demonstrated proficiency in cell and molecular biology, and in a variety of chromatographic methods for protein purification/characterization (such as ion exchange, size exclusion, hydrophobic interaction, and affinity chromatography), and excellent instrumental skills, including apparatus for protein purification, ultrafiltration and diafiltration, are required.
