One postdoctoral X-ray crystallographer positions is immediately available in
the group of Wolfgang Peti at Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island, USA).
The person will focus on the characterization of ser/thr protein phosphatase 1
and its role in cancer and diabetes – an example of the work can be seen @ Nat
Struct Mol Biol. 2010 Apr;17(4):459-464.
The laboratory has in-house access to a full range of protein production (E.
coli & BV), as well as biophysical instruments (ITC (VP-ITC + ITC200), CD, DSC,
fluorescence, light scattering, etc.). Access to in house X-ray crystallography
(Rigaku) and necessary crystallization equipment (Art Robbins Phoenix, Cryscam
etc). Furthermore, the laboratory extensively uses NMR spectroscopy
(cryo-probe
equipped Bruker 500 & 800 NMR spectrometer) and SAXS/WAXS for low resolution
data analysis. Work ethic in the laboratory is based on collaboration of highly
motivated individuals within the group and with a large number of
collaborations
outside of Brown University.

Brown University is an Ivy-League University and one of the leading research
universities in New England (Northeast of US). Providence is a small enough
city
to settle quickly, however provides many amenities of large cities. It is also
one of the most affordable cities in the New England area.

How to apply
Interested candidates, with a background in protein production and X-ray
crystallography should email a CV and the names of at least two references to
Wolfgang_Peti at brown.edu.
