Title/Position: Staff Scientist, Enzymology Summary ARIAD Pharmaceuticals Inc. is seeking an independent and highly motivated staff scientist in enzymology to join our small molecule oncology drug discovery team. The successful candidate will play a key role in our oncology-focused small molecule drug discovery efforts, joining an interdisciplinary research group encompassing structural chemistry (X-ray and NMR), biochemical assays, computational chemistry, structure-based drug design and informatics to support our internal drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of biochemical assays for small to medium scale screening of compounds and investigations of mechanism of action by biochemical and biophysical methods. He/she will also play a leading role in the initial protein production to support multiple areas including biochemical assays, fragment screening and structural chemistry. Duties and Responsibilities Make constructs and purify protein from various expression systems (such as bacteria and baculovirus) Develop and implement biochemical assays Study the interactions between target proteins and small molecule inhibitors Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy and other business partners Serve as a role model for compliant behavior that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the ARIAD organization Strong commitment to business ethics Understanding of, and experience with, regulatory framework applicable to interactions with HCPs, payers, advocacy and other business partners Required Ph.D. in biochemistry, enzymology or other relevant field At least three years of industrial experience in small molecular drug research and development Experience with biochemical assays and compound screening Experience characterizing protein and measuring enzyme activities Experience in protein expression and knowledge in protein purification by chromatographic methods Good communication and teamwork skills Strong commitment to business ethics Understanding of, and experience with, regulatory framework applicable to interactions with HCPs, payers, advocacy and other business partners Job Location Cambridge, MA, US.
