Dear all, We seek to appoint a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Professor John Vakonakis for studies of proteins involved in centriole assembly. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary collaboration between Oxford and the groups of Professors Pierre Gönczy (EPFL) and Michel Steinmetz (Paul Scherrer Institute). The three groups have made significant inroads in understanding the molecular architecture and function of centriolar proteins, including resolving the basic building blocks of SAS-6 (Kitagawa et al., Cell 144, 2011; and Hilbert et al., PNAS 110, 2013), CPAP (Hatzopoulos et al., Structure 21, 2013) and SAS-5 (Rogala et al., eLife 4, 2015). We now want to build upon these discoveries by studying hetero-multimeric complexes of these proteins using structural and biophysical methods.
Applicants should possess or be expected to obtain soon a PhD in natural sciences and should have experience in structural biology, for example in biomolecular NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography or Cryo-EM. Past experience with complementary biophysical techniques (ITC, AUC, CD etc) is desirable.
