A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Yang Gao’s lab
(http://yanggaolab.blogs.rice.edu/) at Rice University, Houston. The Gao lab
utilizes structural biology techniques to investigate the molecular mechanisms
of DNA replication and repair. We employ cryo-electron microscopy, x-ray
crystallography, and various biochemical and biophysical approaches to
characterize how enzymes and motors work together to accomplish these elaborate
processes (see Gao’s recent publications
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/352/6291/1334.short,
https://science.sciencemag.org/content/363/6429/eaav7003.abstract and
https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=y296jScAAAAJ&hl=en). The postdoctoral
fellow will investigate structures and mechanisms of important helicases in
genome replication and repair, with cryo-electron microscopy as the major
technique.

Applicants should have a Ph. D. degree in biochemistry, structural biology or
related field. Experiences with mammalian protein expression, cryo-electron
microscopy, and computational biophysics are preferred but not required. Please
contact Yang at [email protected] for more detail.

Best,
Yang
