Dear Guenter,
Thank Dom for mentioning the CombiPuck
https://www.mitegen.com/product/combipuck-system/#cs-content , which is
complimentary to other types of pucks (CombiPuck can be used at beamlines which
use the UniPuck format) and also makes easier to transfer crystals among
different types of pucks with or without vials.
Due to vial protection, it allows a bit longer time of puck handling under
liquid N2 to keep the low temperature environment for the crystals. It seems to
freeze the crystals well and have less chance to get crystals iced up
(especially benefit for sensitive crystals) after crystal harvesting and
shipment according to users’ feedback.
If you happen to use the CombiPuck to ship your crystals, had better send a
CombiPuck pusher https://www.mitegen.com/product/puck-pusher/ along with the
shipping dewar and let the beamline staff know. It will help take out the
CombiPuck transport canister easier from the shipping dewar at synchrotron
because one hole and a groove on the puck pusher may align with two rods on the
canister to get two rods squeezed to pull the canister out.

Dear Dom,

thanks a lot. Yes, this might work sending a combipuck alongside with a good
bottle for the local contact.
I was wondering whether the grippers can handle a block of propane?

Best wishes,
