Dear all, I would like to draw your attention to the latest call for proposals for serial femtosecond crystallography (SFX) experiments at the SwissFEL Alvra Endstation at PSI: https://www.psi.ch/en/swissfel/users-and-calls
Proposal submission deadline: 15.09.2022 (midnight CEST time) Proposals evaluated: 16.09.2022 – 23.10.2022 Beamtimes scheduled: 01.01.2023 – 30.06.2023 New or inexperienced users are welcome to contact the Alvra group leader Camila Bacellar ([email protected]) to discuss their proposals ahead of submission. They are also pointed to two recent reviews of SFX: Barends et al. (2022) https://doi.org/10.1038/s43586-022-00141-7 Brändén and Neutze (2021) https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aba0954 Users must submit their proposals via the DUO system (https://duo.psi.ch/duo/) and details of the available experimental parameters at Alvra can be found here: https://www.psi.ch/en/swissfel/alvra. Sample delivery with in-house support is predominantly achieved using a high-viscosity extruder, suitable for both membrane and soluble protein crystals. Laboratory space onsite is available for sample preparation (including a dark room and an anaerobic chamber). A pipeline for pre-characterising sample prior to applying for beamtime, in collaboration with the beamline staff, is available and strongly encouraged. Please contact me for details ([email protected]). Best wishes, Emma Beale Paul Scherrer Institut Emma V.
