The ESRF and EMBL Joint Structural Biology and Imaging Group are pleased to announce the second edition of the *Advanced Methods for Ambient Crystallography (AMAX)* workshop, which will take place at the ESRF, Grenoble from *2–4 December 2026*.

The workshop follows on from the successful first edition in 2023 with a focus on room-temperature macromolecular crystallography.

ESRF/EMBL are actively developing methods in this field. Current capabilities include fully automated room-temperature single-crystal data collection on MASSIF-1 <https://www.esrf.fr/MASSIF1> with the CrystalDirect Harvester, /in situ/ room-temperature data collection on MASSIF-1, ID23-2 <https://www.esrf.fr/UsersAndScience/Experiments/ID23-2> and ID30B and microsecond serial and time-resolved crystallography on ID29 <https://www.esrf.fr/id29>.

This 3-day workshop will cover practical and theoretical aspects of room-temperature data collection, including recent developments in the field and broader considerations for ambient crystallography. The first day will include lectures from invited speakers, followed by hands-on practical sessions at the beamlines, data processing tutorials, and a round-table discussion on the following days.

The hands-on practical sessions at MASSIF-1, ID23-2 and ID29 will include room-temperature single-crystal data collection using capillary and humidifier-based methods, /in situ/ data collection and serial time-resolved mixing data collection using a tape-drive approach.


A total of *12 participants* will be selected.

We have also lowered our registration fee to *€200*, which will include all accommodation, meals and coffee breaks during the workshop.
